A typical forgetting curve shows that our knewly learned knowledge and made memories are halved in a matter of days or weeks unless the information is reviewed.
I once had a teacher that reccomended we review the material the day after we first learn it, at one week from the first day we learned it, and review once more a full month later. It also helps to review right before a quiz or test, and it will be easier to do so if you do regular reviews.
"Most students don’t remember more than 10-20% after about half a week, but with additional reviews at the correct spacing interval your retention rate will stabilize at 85-95%."
