Teachers Motivation

"Motivation is the ‘act or process of giving someone a reason’ to do something, or it is the condition of being eager to do some type of work." - Mirriam-Webster.com

These reasons can be intrinsic or extrinsic, from internal or external factors. A teachers goal is to have their students leave their classroom understanding the subject matter, or to be able to complete a task. When students are successful, teachers feel successful, and trying to achieve that feeling, or that goal drives their motivation. Teachers feel motivated when students are grasping what is being taught, but when they just don't get it, it can be demoralizing.

When that happens, it is important to recognize it and set up a game plan to get back on track. It does take extra effort to regain motivation, but as long as you remember your reason or purpose for doing what you do, you will still have that motivation.
