From Andragogy to Heutagogy

Before the internet the only way to learn a new subject was to take a class or exhaust your library's resourses until you were satisfied. These days, with the assistance of the world wide web, we are constantly connected to pretty much every teacher, book, and article (along with the nonsense incorrect information as well). But eager students have so much more potential to go above and beyond if they truely are a self-directed learner. Andragogy has evolved with the new opportunities that the internet has provided into becoming Heutagogy. Students are no longer dependent on waiting to be taught something, they can just go find it out for themselves.

I am personally more of a andragogy student, I like to have a subject or task demonstraited to me first, and have the ability to ask questions to ensure I have correctly grasped the concept. Once I get the concept, I then move on to becoming more of a heutagogy learner. I am more confident in my abilities when I feel that I am supported with having a real teacher.
